Believe it or not!!! We have come to rely on an unusual cast of wildlife to help us successfully manage our farm. Bumble bees, gophers (yes, it is true!), Cooper’s hawks are all necessary to the success of the farm and balancing the natural environment with the cultivated one. We have, over the years, sighted or observed signs of mountain lion, black bear, bobcat, deer, raccoon, skunk, rabbit, wood rat, gopher, vole and mice around our farm.

A large number of both resident and migratory birds visit the farm.    Native plants are beginning to overcome and outnumber exotics. All of this is FREE.

Alternative Energy

We have solar panels to run irrigation pumps.  Now with long, sunny days, we are reaping the benefits quietly and efficiently.
