They are blue, and they are berries.

And we are ready to start picking! We’ll keep you posted on where exactly you’ll find them this coming weekend. We know it’s a long, holiday weekend, but you might just treat yourself to some luscious goodness.2014 First Berries

Summer 2014 Harvest Position

We are looking for an energetic harvest intern to work on our farm and at farmer’s markets during the 2014 harvest season (May-August). Do you have an interest in working on an established certified organic farm, in a beautiful part of California surrounded by miles of forests? The season is short, the hours are long, the days are hot, but the nearby crystal clear creeks help wash the dust off, and housing may be provided. We are currently taking applications (resume + letter of interest) for paid internships for the 2014 season; this position involves co-managing the harvest crew, oversight of packing crew, quality control and logistics. Contact us for more information info@sierracascadeblueberries.com.

John Carlon : Rewilding our Rivers – TEDx Chico

In 1998 River Partners was founded by John and another conservation-minded farmer, Barney Flynn, who believed that the fields of habitat restoration and agriculture could work together. Now a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, River Partners’ mission is to create wildlife habitat for the benefit of people and the environment. River Partners protects the environment by implementing large scale restoration projects along streams and rivers. Their project sites span the Western United States, including the Colorado, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Merced, Otay, Tuolumne, Feather and Stanislaus rivers.

Harvest 2013

ripe 2 Harvest 2013 may be over, but we still have work on the farm. Time to clean up, fix the irrigation, mow (instead of spray) the weeds, and enjoy the beauty of this place we live. Thanks so much for all your support and business this season, we simply could not do it without you.

Holy Bluebitol, Batman!!! We’ve got blueberries!!!

It’s happening!  Earliest pick ever for our farm, we will begin harvest next week.  Good thing, too, cause our farm interns don’t arrive till the weekend – kids gotta get through graduation!  We’re very excited to have 2 returning interns this season (second time this has happened!)  We’ll keep you posted on progress, and when and where you can find our blueberries.  Don’t forget, we’re certified organic (since the beginning 24 years ago)! Can’t wait to see everyone at the markets!  ripe 2ripe plate
